Press release: Diaverum enters Macedonia by acquiring PZU Diamed Macedonia

Diaverum enters the Macedonian market through the acquisition of PZU Diamed Macedonia. PZU Diamed Macedonia operates 9 dialysis centres since 2014, after being awarded one of two lots in a national public tender. The tender has a duration of 20 years and will last until 2034.

Macedonia is facing many challenges due to high levels of chronic diseases among the population which put a strain on the healthcare system. 9 percent of the population has diabetes and the prevalence rate of overweight is 54 percent. Among individuals above 18 years, 22 percent suffer from obesity and the prevalence rate of hypertension is 40 percent. Diabetes and hypertension are both major risk factors for the development of kidney disease.
