Diaverum to present at EDTNA/ERCA International Conference 2013

Munich / Malmö, 30 August 2013 — Diaverum, one of the world’s leading renal care providers, is hosting a Corporate Education Session at the 42nd EDTNA/ERCA International Conference 2013 in Malmö, Sweden. The session is entitled “Innovations in vascular access – reducing risk, promoting quality, improving care” and will discuss how to reduce the risk of venous needle dislodgement, the role of vascular access nurses to promote quality and how to improve care by implementation of buttonhole cannulation.

“Vascular access is often referred to as the lifeline for dialysis patients. Therefore taking proper care of vascular access is a critical factor in patient well-being and survival,” says Jan Cowperthwaite, Corporate Director of Clinical Education at Diaverum.

“We believe that the nurses play a vital role in the care of vascular access and thus can be significant drivers for innovations. By sharing our best practices and study results at this year’s EDTNA/ERCA, we want to support others to improve the care they give,” explains Jan Cowperthwaite.

“The aim of Diaverum is to constantly raise the level of quality in the care that we deliver and to generate the best possible medical outcome for all our patients. Developing new methods and creating innovations in vascular access is an essential part of this approach,” comments Dr. Jörgen Hegbrant, Chief Medical Officer at Diaverum.

In the Corporate Education Session at EDTNA/ERCA 2013, the Diaverum country clinical specialists and lead nurses will speak about reducing the risk of venous needle dislodgement, the role of vascular access nurses in promoting quality and improving care by the implementation of buttonhole cannulation. “We are very keen on investigating and further enhancing buttonhole cannulation, because it improves the patient experience by reducing pain and bleeding”, says Jan Cowperthwaite.

In addition, Diaverum is presenting itself in the exhibition area on the first floor, booth no 6. Interested nurses and medical staff can receive information about Diaverum as an employer and the Diaverum “touch that makes the difference”.
